Since 1981
A restaurant that outlasted its own address.
Gaetano Ruffo first visited Kenya as a tourist in 1975, settled permanently two years later, and in 1981 opened the doors of what would become one of Nairobi's most enduring dining rooms. For over four decades, Trattoria served everyone from Cabinet Ministers to first-time visitors from a corner table on Wabera Street — through recession, renovation, and a changing city around it.
In 2025, after 44 years at Town House, Trattoria moved a short distance to 20th Century House on Kaunda Street — new walls, same kitchen philosophy: honest, traditional Italian cooking, made the way it's always been made here.
Still family recipes. Still the same welcome.
