KHDS research builds
After every ten hospitality studies, Kodawa Labs creates a fictional business to test the findings as one complete guest experience. These experiments live separately from the restaurant concepts above—and every build tells its backstory.
Synthesis build 01 · Restaurants 11–20
East African cooking, organised by the movement of rain.
Enter the restaurant ↗The story behind the website
Third Rain translates KHDS findings about atmosphere, meaningful choice, participation, prepared arrival and operational proof into a fictional contemporary East African restaurant in Toronto.
Its three seasons—First Rain, Long Rain and Ember Season—organise the menu, story, visual language and reservation journey.
Third Rain is an independent fictional study by Kodawa Labs—not a real restaurant or commissioned client project. Our approach
Identify what the restaurant truly sells beyond food.
Make booking, menus, events and locations easy to reach.
Build for the screen where restaurant decisions usually happen.
Support reservations, higher-value events and stronger trust.
Quick audit
Use atmosphere to build desire, then make the reservation action impossible to miss.
Discuss reservations ↗Rebuild type, image crops, actions and navigation around vertical browsing.
Discuss mobile ↗Show capacity, occasion types, visual proof and a dedicated inquiry path.
Discuss events ↗Align photography, copy, motion and calls to action around one memorable promise.
Discuss the brand ↗Build the first impression
